Parent Information & Children's Privacy

You create the profile. TutorClue never asks a child for their real name, home address, phone number, email address, school, birthday, password or location, and the tutor is instructed never to request them. There is no camera access, no photo upload, no location feature, and no way for students to message each other.

Before a message leaves the browser, obvious personal information — email addresses, phone numbers, street addresses, passwords and social handles — is replaced with a placeholder, and your child is shown a short reminder not to share private information. The tutor never sees the original text and never repeats it back. This is an automated safeguard and will not catch every possible case.

Chats are not written to our database and are not kept in our logs. We keep a count of how many questions were asked and a short topic label, which is what powers the daily limit and your child's private progress screen.

From your dashboard you can change the grade range, turn individual tutoring modes on or off, pause AI access entirely, see usage counts, and delete the student profile along with its stored records. Students cannot change their own grade range, tools, limits or plan.

You are asked to confirm you are the parent or guardian before a student profile becomes active. We record only that a consent version was accepted and when.

Needs legal decision: The consent wording, the consent version scheme, and whether an in-product checkbox is a sufficient consent mechanism for the intended audience and jurisdictions all require legal review. We make no claim that the current flow satisfies COPPA, GDPR-K or any other children's privacy regime.

Tutor replies are generated by OpenAI. Your child's message text, grade range and selected mode are sent there after redaction. Hosting, the database and sign-in are also run by third-party providers. See the Privacy Policy draft for detail.
